Forget fancy gear. The biggest leap in your cup comes from four small habits you already have the tools for.
Almost everyone chasing a better cup looks for it in a new machine. But the biggest flavour gains are free, and they live in how you measure, pour and wait.
Start with the ratio. Twenty grams of coffee to three hundred and twenty grams of water gives you a solid 1:16 starting point. Buy a small gram scale — it is the single cheapest upgrade in the whole ritual.
Good coffee makes ordinary moments better.

Next, grind fresh. Pre-ground coffee begins to taste stale within twenty minutes. If you cannot yet grind at home, buy whole beans and have your local roaster grind them the same morning you open the bag.
Pour in slow circles and stop pouring to let the bed drain. Two or three gentle pours beat one aggressive splash every time. The water should land like rain, not like a hose.
Finally, wait. A bloom of thirty seconds lets the coffee release trapped gas. Give your filter a first pour, let it hiss and settle, then continue. That small pause is where sweetness hides.
Make these four things habits before you buy anything else, and nine cups out of ten will taste like you spent a small fortune. Brew better — not louder.
